Gardenia gone leafy

Flowering season is over for my gardenia. Instead of gorgeous white blooms, the plant is filled with large new leaves. I suspect the plant will soon become straggly and stop producing so many flowers. That is the trouble with plants that have been imported from cooler climate. They just have to adapt to the warmth and humidity here.

  1. It looks healthhy! I think they dislike frost more than warmth so hope it will thrive for you. Mine get large leaves at times as well - I notice the ones in the shade grow larger leaves.

  2. My Gardenia is straggly looking now and with less leaves. I spotted 2 little buds. The plant has been giving me regular flowers as I have been spraying it with liquid fertilizer. Try it out, Ting.

Btw, I wanna check with you on how you grow Rosemary. I bought a small pot 2 weeks ago. Placed them under the rain and now the inner leaves are all turning brown. I am worried that I may have killed my newly bought plant. Please give me some tips on how you grow your Rosemary. Thanks.

  3. Thanks for the tip JC. Rosemary is sometimes tricky to grow. It needs plenty of sun and somewhat dry soil. Keep the soil well drained so the roots don't rot. My old plant also turned brown and died after several years.
