I brought back some small rose stem cuttings from my parent's place several weeks back and simply chucked them into a pot of soil. Small leaves started sprouting from the twigs. This plant is barely 10cm tall yet a beautiful rose has already blossomed. Quite amazing really.
That's a really ruffly shape and a vibrant color!
ReplyDeleteBlurting, that's one gorgeous rose! Btw, we have this kind selling here too but big ones. Actually coincidently I saw it today. One with deep red too. You have that there? Do you know if this species is of 'Ros Kampung' or new from Thailand? I am fascinated by rose currently. Some of these roses could really do well in our climate too. Happy gardening!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! I didn't know such roses grow in Singapore!
ReplyDeleteCasey - Yup, and it smells really great too!
ReplyDeleteStephanie - I realise the roses in Malaysian Highlands are huge and gorgeous! I'm not sure what variety this is but I got a stem cutting from a friend years ago and planted in my parent's farm. It grew into such a huge shrub and is constantly flowering. The plant gets messy and encroach into my parent's orchid area, so they're constantly cutting it down.
ReplyDeleteI'm really surprised to see it flowering so quickly. It's merely a baby plant!
The petals of this rose are small, soft and tightly packed. They fall off very easily after blooming. They give off a really sweet and gentle fragrance. You can count on this plant to be flowering all the time.
Open Kitchen Concept - This is one of the easiest roses to grow in Singapore. I have tried various kinds but this is most hardy and doesn't need alot of attention.
ReplyDeleteThat is a nice bloom. And it's really amazing that a small plant can produce such beautiful bloom. I love the vibrant colour too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the details! I have a small rose plant which blooms like yours. The rose flower was big too. And the leaves are small too. The Malay nursery owner just call it 'Ros Kampung'. I will post it once the plant reblooms. Currently the plant is growing well and fast. Oh, I don't think those from the highlands can grow well here. But if you have success story on highland rose, let me know! Btw, I really like the vibrant colour of yours... looks like Peony.
ReplyDeleteIt DOES look like a Peony...
