Joyful sightings
I'm happy to see the gloxinia flowering again. While it is not as gorgeous as before, I think it's doing well in this hot and humid weather.
The yam plant has grown so much recently, I am pretty certain the tuber under the soil is growing quickly too. This is something worth waiting for.

They are gorgeous! Reminds me...its time to go out into the garden with my camera!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful gloxinia! You grow yam in a pot? I thought it will only grow on watery/moist ground.
ReplyDeleteMy Sinfonia - Please do! And upload on your blog!
ReplyDeleteP3chandan - Yes, I bought half a piece of yam, slice the top part and buried it in soil. I was so surprised it grew so well. As long as the soil is moist and the area is shady, it will grow well.
ReplyDeleteThe yam looks gorgeous!!!!!!!! Big, beautiful green leaves. So, yam do not need sun and likes moist soil???? I can try growing then!
ReplyDeleteI have several growing in my garden. Some are in complete shade and others in the sun, but they all do ok. They're just easy.
ReplyDeleteI always see yam growing along the monsoon drain along the coastal road of Selangor. Didn't know that it grows well in our garden too.
ReplyDeleteHave you harvested your own yam before this, Ting? Can it grow as big as the yam we buy from the market?
I love your Gloxinia. They are beautiful!
JC - No I haven't harvested cos it talks about 6 months for them to mature. I have 2 varieties in my garden, the small yam and and the big one. I doubt they will be as big as the ones grown in the ground though.
